Ashoka/ Saraca indica is Kashaya / Astringent in Rasa/ Taste, cooling in Veerya thence an effective anti-Pitta. It decreases heavy menstruation, is blood cleansing, tonic for ovaries and uterus, stimulant for follicle formation, antispasmodic, and anti-inflammatory and has stimulating effect on the endometrium and the ovarian tissues, is useful in the treatment of leucorrhoea and uterine bleeding associated with fibroids, regulates menstrual irregularities, regularizes the interval between two cycles. It provides immense relief from painful menses, the premenstrual syndrome, fatigue and generalized weakness.
