Description
Amaltas is also known by other Ayurvedic names such as Aragvadha or Bahava. It is a mild purgative as well as a powerful skin protector and anti-pruritic. Its features of softness, weight, and unctuousness guarantee the downward flow of pollutants. Vipaka and the flavor are both sweet, whereas Veerya is chilly. Due to its laxative Prabhava, it is anti-Kappa Pitta.
Due to its pleasant taste, lack of habit-forming properties, and safety for continuous use, such as by patients with chronic constipation, this is the best mild purgative. All skin conditions, constipation, fevers, heart conditions, blood disorders, flatulence, and colic can benefit from it. Additionally, it cleanses the digestive system and gets rid of Ama.
A number of biologically active substances, including anthraquinones, flavonoids, alkaloids, glycosides, tannin, saponin, terpenoids, reducing sugar, and steroids, are present in the fruit, stem bark, and leaves of this plant. Fruit and stem bark extract exhibit a range of properties, including antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antidiabetic, hypolipidemic, hepatoprotective, antibacterial, anticancer, and anti-ulcer properties.
The serum levels of liver enzymes and total bilirubin are significantly decreased and total proteins are increased by the aqueous extract of the fruit pulp of Cassia fistula.
