Found in the tropical parts of Asia, Sarpagandha is one of the most used herbs for hypertension.
The principal active component obtained from the roots of Sarpagandha, alkaloid Reserpine, helps in improving blood sugar levels, exhibits antibacterial properties, supports heart rhythm regulation, has sedative properties, and helps induce sleep in insomnia.

Dosage/Usage :

125-250 mg with warm water once or twice a day or as directed by an Ayurvedic doctor.

Sarpagandha is a potent herb and a known CNS depressant; therefore, it is best to be taken under expert supervision, especially if the individual is already on medication for hypertension, arrhythmia, depression or other psychiatric disorders, duodenal ulcer, bronchial asthma, or renal disorders. It should not be taken with alcohol.
