Guggulu is the most effective anti-Vata-Kapha and (Shoolahara) analgesic in Ayurveda, and it reduces most types of headaches. It has a bitter-pungent flavor and a heated potency after digestion (Vipaka), making it anti-Vata and anti-Kapha. It has anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, disinfectant, diuretic, immune-stimulant, thyroid-stimulant, and uterine stimulant properties. It also promotes phagocytosis.
Licorice has a taste that is sweet, astringent, heavy, and unctuous. It is also cold in Veerya and sweet in Vipaka. This has anti-Vata-Pitta properties and is particularly known for its (Dahaprasham) anti-acidity, (Shothaghna) anti-inflammatory, (Stanyajanana) galactagogues, and (Rasayana) anti-oxidant benefits.
Ushira, often referred to as Khuskhus Grass or Vetiveria zizanioides, is one of the most effective Ayurvedic herbs for calming the Pitta Dosha. As it resolves all health difficulties associated with the summer season, it is like nectar in the summer.
One of the calming herbs in Ayurveda is Vetiveria zizanioides, often known as Ushira. It reduces tension and improves digestion. One of the best deodorants, coolants, and relaxants, it is light, dry in characteristics, sweet, bitter in taste, pungent in Vipaka, and cold in Veerya.
Western studies have shown that the alkaloids in guggul (Commiphora mukul) reduce swelling and inflammation. According to clinical studies, ingesting 500 mg of Guggul, which contains 3.5% guggulsterones, three times a day may reduce pain. It improves thyroid function, raises thermogenesis, or heat generation, and raises basal metabolic rate, burning more calories. Guggulsterones act as antioxidants by preventing the oxidation of LDL cholesterol, preventing atherosclerosis. In a tiny clinical study, guggul was proven to be a more effective antibiotic than tetracycline for treating cystic acne. 500 mg of Guggul extract were consumed twice daily during the trial.
Licorice contains a variety of plant estrogens, or phytoestrogens, as well as many antidepressants and potentially therapeutic chemicals. The primary medicinal component of the herb, glycyrrhizin, which is 50 times sweeter than sugar, has a variety of advantageous effects on the body. Additionally, it can be used to treat digestive tract spasms, inflammation, and irritation. By increasing levels of interferon, a crucial immune system component that fends off invading viruses, licorice also seems to improve immunity. Additionally, it has potent antioxidants and certain phytoestrogens that can mimic the effects of some natural estrogens in the body; these are particularly useful during menopause. Additionally, glycyrrhizin acid appears to inhibit the development of numerous bacteria and viruses, including influenza A. Hay fever, allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, and bronchial asthma benefit greatly from its anti-allergenic impact.
Triphala is a Rasayana, an antioxidant, and an eye healer, so it can treat headaches in the eyes.
Vetiveria has potent narcotics that help with headaches brought on by stress.
