Sweet Sabudana Kheer (Sabo)

Sabudana has few calories and is regarded as a healthy diet. Sabudana, which is derived from the starch of the cassava plant, is also known as the food for fasting. Sabudana is a great source of energy and carbohydrates, thus it has a lot of nutritional value. It aids in weight gain, regulates blood pressure, and enhances digestion. It is known in Ayurveda to be a great energy booster.


Ingredients to prepare Sabudana Kheer

  • 75 grams - Sabudana (Sago)
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 Cups - Milk
  • 60 grams - Cow ghee
  • 8-10 - Cashew nuts
  • Sugar as per taste
  • Saffron strands
  • 1-2 – Cardamom

 

Method to prepare Sabudana Kheer

  1. Wash a third of a cup of sabudana (sago) in water two or three times.
  2. The next step is to soak Sabudana (sago) for at least two to three hours in water.
  3. Roast sabudana in heated ghee in a pan.
  4. Fill the Sabudana with water, then boil it for 10 minutes.
  5. Stir the boiling Sabudana while adding the milk; to avoid sticking and burning.
  6. Sabudana should be cooked for at least 15 minutes before it turns translucent.
  7. Taste-test before adding sugar.
  8. Add the cardamom and cashew nuts and cook for a further 5 to 6 minutes.
  9. Sweet Sabudana (sago) is now prepared and may be served warm or cold.
