Here is yet another wholesome dish, Namkeen Daliya.
Broken wheat, or daliya, is a rich source of iron, fiber, and healthy carbs. It has a minimal fat and cholesterol content. Daliya is especially given to growing children and people who are recovering from illness since it is very easy to digest.
Ingredients to prepare Namkeen Daliya:
- 250 grams - Broken wheat (Daliya)
- ½ cup - Green peas
- 15 ml - Olive oil/Cow ghee
- 1 Onion – finely chopped
- 1 small Tomato – finely chopped
- ½ teaspoon - Cumin seeds
- Salt – as per taste
- 500 ml – Water
Method to prepare Namkeen Daliya:
- Place 1 cup of broken wheat in a bowl and thoroughly wash with water. Set it apart.
- Next, turn the pressure cooker on and add 1 tablespoon of either cow ghee or olive oil.
- After letting it warm up for a while, add the cumin seeds, along with the chopped onion.
- Cook for a while on low heat while thoroughly stirring.
- Stir well before adding broken wheat.
- Allow it to roast for a while.
- Next, add salt and water to your taste.
- Seal the pressure cooker's cover and blow twice to three times.
- Alternatively, you can let it run on low flame for 6 to 8 minutes after waiting for 1 whistle on full flame.
- Extinguish the flame and wait for the pressure to naturally decrease.
- Your namkeen daliya is ready to be served when you lift the lid.
- Add freshly chopped coriander leaves as a garnish.
- Prepare this delectable dish using ghee, curd, and buttermilk.
TIPS
- When preparing this recipe, you can also include split green grams in a 1:1 ratio at step 5.
- You can also include chopped veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, french beans, and carrots.
